Denali National Park

Denali National Park! From Fairbanks it takes about three hours to drive to the park, including the 14 miles of park road you can drive in a commercial vehicle. The drive is stunning and as it is autumn all of the trees and plants are changing colour and the hills are a beautiful mix of reds, oranges and yellows. We drove up to the Savage checkpoint, which is as far as you can drive without a permit, parked the car and walked the Savage trail, a 2 mile loop alongside a nice stream.

These trees lined the pathway toward the picnic area and below are pictures of the beautiful plants that were giving the area the colour.

Unfortunately it was far too cloudy to see mount Mckinley but the rest of the landscape made up for it.
